Reminder: Zion is still collecting prescription bottles for Med-Share. They are recycling them to use in 3rd World Countries. Zion has already been able to donate 27 pounds of bottles to date!
On Easter morning, Sunday, April 8th, please help us decorate our “Living Cross” with fresh cut flowers. The cross will be located on the lawn in front of the church. You can bring flowers with you to the Easter Sunrise Service, Sunday School, or the Easter Festival Worship Service at 11:00 a.m. and simply tuck them into the netting on the cross.
Are you an avid reader? Do you love nothing better than to curl up with a good book? Then the Book of the Month Club is looking for you! We are currently reading At Home in Mitford, by Jan Karon.You can purchase the book or check it out at the library. Our next meeting is March 27th at 7:00 p.m. in ZFH. Bring a favorite book to share with the group! We have started lending them to each other!
Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will be on Saturday, April 7th from2:30pm to 4:30pm. Please mark your calendars and invite a friendas we have fun preparing for our Easter celebration! Our Mary/Martha WELCA group is sponsoring this event. Donations to helpwith costs can be given to Dana Lee Smith or Amber Hall. Pleasemake all checks payable to Zion.
A total of 195 participated in a wonderful Souper Bowl Sunday worship experience on Sunday, February 5th. The youth did an outstanding job with the worship service. We are so very proud to support the Scout program. A total of 80 youth are actively taking part in the Scouting programs at Zion. Also, we were able to donate 250 lbs of food to Manna House!
This will go a long way to serve many people right in our own community. Our sincere thanks to the many adult leaders who give of their time and resources to provide excellent leadership for these LYO and Scouting activities.
We will be decorating the Chancel area once again, on Easter Sunday, with Easter Lilies. If you would like an Easter Lily given “in honor of” or“in memory of” someone, please complete an order form and return with your check to Rene’ Atkinson. (Please make your check payable to Zion Lutheran Church.) The forms will be available in the narthex & education building, or use the one provided in the newsletter. The EasterLilies will be ordered locally and delivered to the church with the pots wrapped. The cost of an Easter Lily is $10.50 each. The order deadline is Sunday, March 25th.
Zion will be having a workday on Saturday March 31, 2012 from 8am-12 noon to do some general maintenance and clean up ahead of the Easter activities. Everyone come and help, we can find something for you to do. The more people we have, the less each has to do!

Pastor Barb is offering instruction to prepare young children to receive their 1st Communion on Maundy Thursday, April 5th, 2012 at the evening worship service. The instruction is an hour long, and covers the basic Lutheran understanding of communion and teaches the children how we commune at Zion. Please let Pastor Barb know if you want your child to receive instruction prior to Holy Week.
