Military Appreciation Worship Service & Picnic Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11th

Join us for a special worship service on Sunday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a delicious picnic and lots of ole’ fashion fun! Local veterans and JR ROTC members will join us for the special Veterans Day worship service in honor and memory of those who have served in the military.

Immediately following the worship service, we will have a picnic in Zion Park with a special presentation including an update on our Military Care Packages, yummy food, and good ole’ fashion fun – horseshoes, cornhole, face painting, train rides, horse rides, hay rides, and races (3-legged, relay, sack).

We will provide hot dogs, burgers, buns, salad, and drinks. Folks can sign-up to bring potato salad, apple pie, ice cream, and banana pudding (list in narthex). We will provide transportation (first come basis) to and from the Veterans Day Ceremony at 3pm in the Effingham Veterans Park in Springfield; Pastor Barb is providing the invocation. The bus will leave Zion at 2:15pm. After the program, the bus will return to Zion.

Plants will be available for purchase to honor and remember those who have served our country. These will be planted as the beginning of Zion’s military garden in conjunction with a local Eagle Scout project. If you are interested in purchasing a plant, order forms will be available in the narthex and provided in the bulletin in October. Orders must be in by Sunday, November 4, for the order to be placed November 5; cost is $10 each. See any Evangelism member for more details.
