Funeral Arrangements for Clayton Dasher

Edwin Clayton Dasher

October 28, 1937 – November 06, 2017

Marlow – Edwin “Clayton” Dasher, 80, passed away November 6, 2017 at his home.

The Effingham County native retired from CSX Transportation where he worked for 44 years. He was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served on church council, sang in the choir and served in various other capacities. He was a 50 year member of Guyton Masonic Lodge. Clayton was active in scouting throughout most of his life. He was a former Scout Master for Troop 691 of Marlow, GA. He also served on behalf of Zion as the Charter Representative for Club Scout Pack 691 and Troop 691. He was awarded the Silver Beaver for his work in scouting and he was a part of the Coastal Empire’s first scouting Wood Badge class. Clayton served on the board of the Effingham County Fair and he served as a board member for the Effingham County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Ebenezer Trustees, a member of the Effingham County Historical Society and a volunteer with Ebenezer Alive. Clayton enjoyed spending time outside and he was known for making cane syrup.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Maude Conaway Dasher; sisters, Leona Helmey and Sarah Hamaker; brother, James Dasher.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emma Lee Zipperer Dasher; daughter, Dana Lee Dasher (Dana) Smith; grandson, Evan Smith; brother, Lowell (Naomi) Dasher; sister-in-law, Martell (Mike) Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church. Mr. Dasher will lie in state from 3 p.m.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be given to Zion Lutheran Church, 121 Noel C. Conaway Rd., Guyton, GA 31312. Remembrances may also be given to Cub Scout Pack 691 or Boy Scout Troop 691, 121 Noel C. Conaway Rd., Guyton, GA 31312.
