WEAR RED !!!
Reformation Day is a high festival of the Lutheran church year, so the col-or of the day is RED! This is always a meaningful worship service for us who continue in the footsteps of the great reformers of the Church. The ELCA is known as the Church that is Always Being Made New, and as such, we are always listening to the Spirit, always open to being
re-formed. We celebrate that spirit on this day. We hope you will come and join in our joy as we thank God for his Church and celebrate our herit-age as Lutherans.
celebrate our heritage as Lutherans!
Once again, Zion will enter a float in the Effingham County Fair Parade in Springfield. The Evangelism and Social Ministry Committees are in charge of this project. Fair week is October 22nd-27th. The parade is Monday, October 22nd. Lineup begins at 4:30 p.m. The float, as usual, will start on the side street by Holy Trinity. The parade begins at 5:00 p.m.
We are looking for members to ride on the float. Come, join in the fun!
After many months of prayer for guidance and interviewing, Zion now has a new pastor. The Congregation voted to extend a Call to the Rev. John Benjamin Mandrick, “Pastor Ben”, at a Called Congregation Meeting on September 26th, and Pastor Ben has accepted the Call.
Pastor Ben and his wife, Andi, and their four young children, Liam, Avery, Caroli, and Maxwell, will be joining the Zion family officially on November 15th.
These are exciting times for Zion. We look forward to our new journey with Pastor Ben and his family as the Holy Spirit guides our ministry opportunities in our community and at Zion. Hopefully you will come be a part of the journey.
